The Six Emphases of LifeStation

1.Community--We live with others in a larger community.  Learning how God has gifted us, recognizing the gifts of others, and learning to live in relationship with one another in the larger communities of which we are a part is one of the primary emphases of LifeStation.

2.Commerce--It is important that young people experience the value of money, the importance of work, how to manage time and energies, and how to connect their uniqueness to entrepreneurial activity.   Each LifeStation facility operates several micro-businesses that are managed and run by young people.

3.Character--Our society has been based on the work of men and women of character.  Their identity is rooted in deeply held values that have defined the ways they have related to others and the world in which they live.  Each student volunteer working in any capacity at a LifeStation is required to participate in a three-year character course.  They will learn about traditional values from the Bible and will  have opportunity to experientially apply them within the context of opportunities provided by the LifeStation in their community.

4.Caring--The admonition of Jesus is that “we love God with all of our heart, soul, and strength and love our neighbor as ourselves.”  LifeStation provides a wide range of ministry opportunities for young people to serve both in their community and in outreaches throughout the world.

5.Creativity--The idea of expression finds new meaning in a LifeStation environment.  Resources within each facility make it possible for young people to create music, produce audio-visuals, and to share them with others.

6. Cultivation
--Every volunteer teen working in a LifeStation is eligible to receive an academic scholarship to offset costs for a college education.  For many young people this alone might make the difference in enabling them to cultivate their personal giftedness through education so that they maximize their life potential!
