Re-Defining Philanthropy for Our Generation
In the changing world of philanthropy, more and more non-profits are seeking alternative sources of revenue to help supplement annual funding needs. Mission organizations throughout the world are creatively using micro-business to establish a presence and platform to impact others for Jesus Christ. And while they do they “earn their way” in a manner similar to how the Apostle Paul did as a tent-maker. Micro-Business is the most significant change taking place among US non-profit organizations to supplement ministry needs. The majority of these micro-business ventures, however, generate income but do little to complement the mission of the sponsoring organization.
LifeStation may be the perfect fit for your church, Christian school, national youth organization, or community non-profit to establish a micro-business that will generate income while providing you maximum exposure to those in your community that are concerned about the very things that are at the heart of your mission. That’s micro-business providing macro-impact.
Micro-Business
- A LifeStation building can be constructed in a variety of sizes. While there are standard designs, the concept can change to meet local requirements--including renovating an existing property. It includes a bistro, European coffee cafe, a small resource center, break-out rooms, and a performing arts center.
- LifeStation is a place that will serve as a magnet for teens and young adults. It’s a place where friendships begin, ministry takes place, and transformation occurs.
- LifeStation is all about young people. It’s a place where they learn responsibility, develop “hands on” business experience, and hone management skills.
- LifeStation provides a safe place to grow. And while teens work at LifeStation they participate in a long-term character course. Workers are eligible for college scholarships. The size scholarship will be based on the proift and loss of the facility during the time period in which they worked.
- LifeStation dedicates 90% of its net income to support projects for youth and fund scholarships. The remaining 10% is committed to providing support for youth activities in the community.
